Taipei Biotech Awards


A committee comprising experts from various fields such as biotechnology, finance, intellectual property, and venture capital.
Over the past 22 years, the Taipei Biotech Awards has earned wide recognition from the biotechnology industry, government, and academia. Nearly 2,000 outstanding biotech achievements have competed for the awards, with more than 300 winners and a total of over NT$100 million in prize money granted to date.The combined efforts of the industry and the city government have earned the “Taipei Biotech Awards” the nickname of the “Biotech Oscars” within the biotech community, making it an excellent platform for top domestic biotech companies to strengthen their corporate image and enhance international reputation.

Important Milestones of "Taipei Biotech Awards"

  • 2025 The Innovation Award is divided into three categories — Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, and Applied Biotechnology — to encourage broader participation from enterprises in biotechnology innovation and development.
  • 2024 Encouraged more enterprises to invest in innovation and R&D, the Innovation Award was divided into two categories: Medical Device, Pharmaceutical and Applied Biotechnology, and set up a “Taipei Biotech Star” in 2024.
  • 2021 Encouraged the integration of domestic research and development results in the biotechnology field with the digital technology industry, and set up a " Interdisciplinary Excellence Award" in 2021.
  • 2020 Award adjustment - “New Technology Award” was modified into “Innovation Award”.
  • 2016 The total prize was increased to 6 million.
  • 2015 Modified the award titles to "Innovation Award", " Go-Global Award" and "Technology Transfer Award" to promote continuous investment in innovative technology, foster growth of bio-tech industry and enhance the outreach of global market.
  • 2010 The "Taipei Biotech Awards" was first opened to all bio-tech firms and academic/research institutes in Taiwan.
  • 2005 The "Industry-Academic Cooperation Award" was established to foster the bridging of research outcomes to industrial market products.
  • 2004 The "Taipei Biotech Awards" was launched by the city of Taipei, which was the first ever bio-tech award in Taiwan, including four awards of "Biotechnology Commercialization Award", "Research & Development Innovation Award", "Biotechnology Transition Award" and "Cultivation Performance Award".
