To encourage further investment of the industry, the academic and the research institutions in the field of bio-tech development, achieve promotion of excellent bio-tech research and development technologies and the bridging of academic and research outcomes, in 2004, the Taipei City Government first launched the "Taipei Bio-tech Awards" specified for bio-tech industry. The award is designed for the important points of the field, such as exploration and development, technology transfer, product marketing, breeding, etc. of innovation technologies, and experts in the field of bio-tech, finance, and financial-intelligence were invited to form the selection committee for the model enterprises and institutes, and to present them with trophies and prizes.
With a fair and rigorous selection mechanism and a professional review committee, the "Taipei Bio-tech Awards" has been well received by the official, the industry and academic community in the field of biotechnology, and 230 prizes have been awarded so far, with a total value of more than 100 million New Taiwan Dollar. And the previous award-winning manufacturers have been experiencing good development situation, of which nearly 60% have been successfully listed on the market, and favored by major foreign manufacturers on the stage of major international biotechnology exhibition activities. The total technology authorization amount is up to 430 million New Taiwan Dollar. The industry efforts to take advantage of the policies of the municipal government to promote, enabling the "Taipei Bio-tech Awards" to obtain the title of "Biotech Oscar" in the biotechnology industry, making it an excellent platform for top domestic biotechnology enterprises to create a corporate image and enhance the international visibility!
